Tooth Fairy Pillow
My super cute niece just turned eight years old. I can't believe how old and grown up she is getting. For her birthday I created this super cute tooth fairy pillow just for her. It has a beautiful applique of a tooth fairy, crystals for the fairy dust, a pocket to put the tooth and money in, and a ribbon to hang the pillow so the tooth fairy can find it easily. I will probably be adding it to the Dreaming of Stitches shop soon.
Nightmare Hat
Somehow I agreed to make a hat with dreadlocks coming off of it for a man at one of the boutiques. I'm sorry, but never again will I agree to make a custom order hat like this one. I spent about 20 hours making it, had to buy a few scanes of yarn for it, and only made about 25 cents an hour for my efforts. I tried my best to create a hat that was only from the descriptions in that man's head. Once I gave it to him, they called to say it didn't fit just right and wasn't exactly what they wanted. I am not an expert at hat making, I can do a few things, but I will never again make a custom order hat like this one.

Boutiques
November was a crazy month! I sewed and sewed and sewed so much stuff for the two boutiques. To say I was busy is an understatement. This is a picture of the booth we put together on the first day. Yes, it was very crowded with STUFF. But I had big dreams of making a lot of stuff and selling a lot of stuff and coming home with nothing, but green. It didn't really turn out that way...
The first day was slow and the second day was even slower. It completely made it all worth it when the Usborn book lady asked if I could do a trade. Yea! I got some great books out of the deal and got rid of a lot of stuff, including the boxes of old books from my husband's aunt.
The last boutique was a fundraiser for an adoption. IT WAS A BLAST!!! I don't have any pictures of that boutique. There were so many people who came to support the family! I am just barely finishing up the custom orders for that boutique.
I have learned a lot about selling at boutiques. I have had a slow boutique and a very busy and hopping boutique. Right now, I don't know if I will do one again though. It was a lot of work. I just want to relax and enjoy Christmas!

Tiana Costume
My three year old daughter LOVES the new Disney movie The Princess and the Frog. She decided she was going to be Tiana for Halloween last year. There are no cute Tiana costumes anywhere, and plus I wanted to make it. It isn't exactly the dress because we added sleeves, but everything else it very close. Here's what we came up with...
We tried to get a black wig for her, but the children's size was too small and the adult ones just didn't work. So a few people have called her Tinkerbell with her blond hair and white skin. I just don't want to dye her hair black for fear that it wouldn't come out.

Organized!!!
It's been a month since I started, but I was finally able to get everything in my sewing room organized!
Just looking at this cupboard is like eye candy! LOVE IT!
Later this fall I plan on painting the walls in that room a greenish blue. I picked out the perfect color to coordinate with the yellow 70's counter top and the dark wood cabinets.

Fair Quilts
I took two quilts out to our county fair this past week. Our family quilt we embroidered for my grandma for Christmas got a BLUE ribbon! Everyone worked so hard on it last fall to surprise grandma. It is really a beautiful quilt.
My Cherries Jubilee Quilt got a red ribbon. (I suspected this since the back has some puckers that drive me CRAZY!)
It's fun to take things to the fair to show off and see what prizes we can get. Now what to do for next year....

Lessons in Antiquing a Bench
I bought this really cute bench at a wood shop. It has been sitting by my front door unfinished for months now. I finally decided I wanted to get it done and put it in my garden for my girls to sit on. I chose a soft yellow color. Then I decided I wanted to antique the edges so it looked a little rustic and fun. Well... I had no idea what I was doing. I painted the bench yellow and sanded the edges. Then I used some wood stain and smeared it over the wood and tried to wipe it off... that didn't work. It only made it look very dirty and a gross black color. So I painted it yellow again and tried some antique paint I found at the hobby store. That did NOTHING to it at all, that I could see. So I took my sister-in-law's advice and just dabbed the edges with a black ink pad. That worked out pretty good. To finish it off I sprayed it with an outdoor finishing spray. It took me a few tries to figure something out, but I like the way it looks.

Busy
I haven't been posting a lot lately because I have been busy with my ETSY shop. Turns out the ruffle bum onesies are a huge hit. I have some fun new ones in the shop along with some leg warmers.
It was so hot outside when I took the pictures for the leg warmers. My baby was really good and happy while I was taking pictures of her. My 3 year old wanted some attention too so I took pictures of her next. She is such a poser! She'd run to a spot and say "CHEESE!" and strike a pose. We had tons of fun taking these pictures although it was really hot. To say "THANKS" for being such great sports, we had some big popsicles when we got done.
The leg warmers are supper cute and I have more styles coming. Check them out in my ETSY shop.

Learning to Knit
My grandma is trying to teach me to knit. I have never learned, but I have known how to crochet since I was in 3rd grade. It's like learning a new language when you are well out of the school scenario. It's awkward, weird, and coming along very slowly. I don't even think I could "cast on" by myself if my life depended on it. I am working on knitting and purling and trying not to loose stitches. However, I'm not really making anything right now. Maybe if I were actually trying to make something I would enjoy this more. Does anyone have an easy project for a beginner?
